Exhibition of gingerbread - a concert of smell, shape and taste

Kittelovo muzeum

Dana Holmanová's work continues a long and deep Czech tradition of gingerbread making. The author is always finding new ways and her creative inventiveness seems to be inexhaustible. Her gingerbread stands out for its precision, for its typically feminine tenderness, and for its perfect beauty it is incomparable to works of art. Her speciality is her 'folded gingerbread', which she creates by combining individual motifs into larger units and sculptural images. Her decorating techniques using blueprint, beeswax, corn husks or gold thread are quite unique. In addition to the exhibition at Kittel House, Dana Holmanová and her gingerbread houses can be seen throughout our country at many craft events, museums and open-air museums. For example, she has been cooperating for a long time with the Museum of Gingerbread and Fairy Tales in Ráby near Pardubice, or with the Krkonoše Museum in Jilemnice and Vrchlabí. Her fragrant and poetic products have also found their way abroad - she has exhibited and demonstrated her production in Magdeburg and Marienberg in Germany, Krakow in Poland, Svidnica and the open-air museum in Kudowa, in the remote Slovenian town of Radovlice and many other places. The exhibition will run until 5 July 2023 and will be open daily, except Mondays.
