Muzeum Českého ráje v Turnově

The text part of the exhibition will be supplemented by objects from the collection of Josef Václav Scheybal, museums in Hradec Králové, Jičín, Nová Paka, Vrchlabí and Železnice. It is not only a collection of carved wooden gingerbread moulds, carved logs and beehives, but also examples of tools and equipment that local beekeepers and gingerbread makers needed for their work. Historical documents will be complemented by examples of the work of contemporary producers. The exhibition will be accompanied by workshops conducted by the museum's lecturers in cooperation with the holders of the Master of Traditional Handicraft Production of the Liberec Region and the Carrier of the Tradition of Folk Crafts (MKČR) awards. Visitors will not only have the opportunity to learn about the history of this traditional production, but also to master some of the craft procedures in the processing of honey and the production of honey pastries. The exhibition will open on Thursday, 16 November at 17.00.
Museum of the Bohemian Paradise in Turnov (Stonemason's House) / 16 November - 7 January 2024

At the end of this year's visitor season, the Museum of Bohemian Paradise in Turnov has prepared an exhibition dedicated to beekeeping and gingerbread in the Pojizeří and Podještědí region. These closely related crafts have ancient roots in both regions. Their tradition has never been completely interrupted in history and, particularly in recent years, a number of small producers have emerged who are building on the original methods of work and who are devoting themselves not only to keeping bees but also to using the honey from their own production in the production of honey pastries. The exhibition, which will be held in the exhibition space of the Stonemason's House, will not only guide visitors through the history of these traditional ways of making a living, but will also introduce those who were and are responsible for the fact that these crafts have not disappeared in our region.
