From the copper mould to the car

| Liberec Regional Research...

Liberec developed into a rich industrial centre in the whole Bohemia during the 19th century. The company Christian Linser was one of the important engineering companies in this sector. The company was headed first by father Christian and then by son Rudolf, who gradually built up an important factory in Liberec from 1858 from a small workshop, which produced various boilers and distribution equipment for the textile and food industry and also dealt with fire-fighting technology. In 1896, Christian's son Rudolf, a graduate of the local industrial school, took over the management of the company and soon became a technically educated young man who focused on motoring. Under his leadership, at the beginning of the 20th century, the company began to develop and produce motorcycles, and at the turn of 1905 and 1906, the first automobile came out of the company's design workshop - the voituretta, at the time the first car with a four-cylinder engine in the whole of Austria-Hungary. Although the production of motor vehicles at Linser ended in 1907, the foundry branch of the plant developed into an important foundry for the motor industry not only in Bohemia, but also in Austria and Germany. The area at the end of Barvířská Street with the last building of the former Linser factory has recently become an area of focus for the Liberec public in connection with the urban design of this area, where a creative urban zone could be created. The christened book should contribute to this development with an informed look into the past.

The story of the Liberec factory Ch. Linser - book launch by historian Jan Mohr.
