Generous donors to the museum - presentation of a selection of donations received in 2023 from Mrs. Dagmar Nová and Mr. Jaroslav Barták. In 2023, the Museum of Bohemian Paradise received, among other donations, two large collections from the private collections of Mrs. Dagmar Nová and Mr. Jaroslav Barták. The exhibition at the Stonemason's House is a thank you for their generous donation, which will significantly enrich the museum's collection. The first objects from the collection of Mrs. Nová were acquired by the museum in the spring of 2023. On that occasion, the donor offered the museum other objects, which were taken over and transported to the museum in two stages. These include a collection of utilitarian and decorative ceramics and porcelain, decorative objects made of metals and ivory, utilitarian and decorative glass, jewellery, costume jewellery and personal items such as pocket and wristwatches, tabards, flasks and others. The collection is complemented by a set of holy images, prayer books and sacramentals. A collection of tourist stamps is also a valuable addition to the collection. The acquired items have been added to the ethnography, art, arts and crafts and history collections. The exhibition presents only a selection of the donated collection, which contains 337 items in total. In September 2023, Mr. Jaroslav Barták approached the Turnov Museum with a similar offer. He donated to the museum a collection of utilitarian vessels made of stoneware and porous materials and kitchen tools and utensils. He collected the collection from the localities in the surroundings of Semily at the time when he worked as an archivist in Semily archives. These are interesting exhibits of local provenance from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, such as larders, greengrocers, milk churns and creamers, baking moulds, ceramic pots, casseroles, baking dishes and kerosene pots. As in the case of the gift from Mrs. Nová, only a part of Mr. Barták's gift is presented in the exhibition, out of the total number of 162 donated objects. Both gifts not only represent a significant addition to the collection of the Turnov Museum, but also evoke a feeling of certain uniqueness. Mrs Dagmar Nová and Mr Jaroslav Barták can be described as true patrons who are interested in both the permanent preservation of their collections and in raising the prestige of the Turnov Museum.
