CHANGE OF REPRESENTATION: Name

| Small Theatre

Divadlo F.X.Šaldy...

Matthieu Delaporte, Alexandre de La Patellière Since its premiere in Paris in 2010, the witty French comedy The Name has toured the world, won numerous awards and has already been made into a film. It is the brainchild of the well-known contemporary French screenwriting duo Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière, who have several TV series and numerous feature films to their credit. Their first play develops with endearing insight and self-irony the classic premise of French conversation pieces: the meeting of family and friends over a delicate home-cooked dinner. Two charming married couples in their forties and a family friend enjoy exotic Moroccan hors d'oeuvres; however, the culinary experience and social conversation take an unexpected turn when the expectant father, Vincent, tells the others the name of his first expected offspring. An argument about the meaning of various labels and labels in a world where prejudice is becoming socially unacceptable escalates into a dramatic clash with humorous and surprising points. As the civilized adults divulge what to call whom, shocking family secrets emerge. What can become a hot topic in a family? What truths about our loved ones do we hijack? And how often do we use our image, label, or name as a mask that is more palatable to those around us than reality?

We are very sorry, due to injury, on April 21, instead of performing THE SECRET Mr. ZET, we will present NAME: A Funny Family Dinner Sharply Spiced with Tangible Topics.
