A musician from Jamaica stands up to organized crime. He steals from the gangsters and distributes the stolen money as a modern Robin Hood among the slum population in Kingston and the surrounding area.

"Rockers" is probably one of the most authentic works of Jamaican cinema from the heyday of reggae. When the film was shown in Cannes on the same evening as Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now," thousands of spectators stormed the cinema, forcing riot police to be called in. A review in Le Monde said: "Rockers" is not a film, but a work of art. It's so good it's hard to believe, and yet it's real.
