Radio has been with mankind for over a hundred years. Today, anyone can tune into any station from around the world, via the internet, without needing a radio receiver. The frequency of stations and the quality of broadcasts have increased greatly. In addition to the public stations, there are also countless private stations in our country, which began to emerge right after the revolution. You may have a memory of your childhood, of the Sunday fairy tale, the Hajaja programme, Meteor, etc., which, by the way, are still on the radio today. Broadcasting in our country will celebrate its 100th anniversary this May. The author of the exhibition, Václav Pozdílek, in cooperation with the Kittel Museum, is preparing an exhibition of old radios to mark this anniversary. Václav Pozdílek from Bratříkov is a collector of historical radios and a bit of a radio amateur, originally an electrician by profession. He organized his first exhibition in 1983. It took place in Pěnčín, then in the ŽBS plant. He is said to have shown 50 radios at this exhibition. This was followed by others in the whole district, in Jablonec, in Železný Brod, in Jablonec na Vrkoslavice, in Hut, etc. The collection contained around 250 radios. The appearance of the oldest radios was given by wooden cabinets to fit well into the interior. Young people who see, for example, a gramophone playing on a crank are amazed that it works without electricity. Shellac records are played at 78 rpm. Interestingly, the turntable cannot be turned down, so I close the door. The oldest piece on display is a Telefunken 40 W from 1923, and is still working.

An exhibition of historic radios to celebrate 100 years of regular Czechoslovak Radio broadcasts will be held May 13-28, 2023 at the Kittel House on Krásná. Historical radios of various brands will be on display, and music from shellac records will remind of the old days. The exhibition will be guided and commented on daily by its creator and curator, Václav Pozdílek, throughout its duration, always during the opening hours of the Kittel Museum.
