České středohoří It was declared a protected area in 1976. The Bohemian Central Highlands is an extraordinary landscape of limestone and basalt cones, piles and ridges. The highest mountain is Milešovka 836,5 m above sea level. The lowest place is the Elbe in Děčín, 121.9 m above sea level. The Jizera Mountains were declared a protected area in 1967. The northernmost mountain range in the Czech Republic is named after the Jizera River, which rises on the slopes of Smrk, the highest mountain in the Czech part of the mountains. The altitude of the Jizera Mountains is 1 127 m, the mean height of the Jizera Mountains is 696 m. The area of the Czech Republic is 417 km2. About the author: Václav lahovský *1944, studied at the grammar school in Ústí nad Labem and at the Conservatory of Photography there. He is currently employed as a freelance photographer. He has been a member of the Association of Professional Photographers since 2000 and a member of the Association of Czech Photographers since 1978. In the field of applied photography, he works with calendars and adjusted landscape photographs. In his freelance photographic work, he prefers documentary photography of movement in photography, preferring dance. He has held more than thirty solo exhibitions. Among the most important ones are the Exhibition Hall of the Czech Lime Tree Foundation in 1989, the Gallery of Artistic Photography in Moravská Třebová in 1998, the Small Exhibition Hall in Liberec in 2004. Among the largest are Individuality in documentary APF Gallery Fronta Prague, Landscape APF Prague, NMF Jindřichův Hradec, Czech Landscape SČF Prague. He is represented in the collections of the National Museum of Photography Jindřichův Hradec, Centre National de la Photographie Paris France, Fons Historic de Fotosport Catalunya reus Spain, Union of Czech Photographers, Private Collection of Tóth István Cegléd Hungary. He has also received numerous awards. Among the biggest is the bronze medal Fotosport Reus Spain 1982, 3. China Photographers Shanghai branch 1991, 2. Buenos Aires Argentina 1991, 2. Woman Strakonice 1992, 3. Prize Sebeka w.f.f.d. Belgium 1997, 2nd Prize Zemský raj Turnov 2010. As a good photographer he has photos in publications and literature.
