A fresh house with a tower: the North Bohemian Museum through the eyes of Sutnarka students

| North Bohemian Museum Liberec

Thanks to the cooperation of students of the didactic illustration studio of the Sutnarka Museum in Pilsen under the guidance of Renáta Fučíková and Eva Brodská and the museum staff, a unique book has been created that introduces the reader not only to the significant historical milestones of the museum and important personalities who influenced the direction of the institution, but also to the general principles of museum functioning. This publishing venture thus has a chance to be among the most important books on the subject of museums and museology currently being published.
The exhibition features original illustrations from the book just presented. Students and graduates of the didactic illustration studio under the guidance of the prominent Czech illustrator Renata Fučíková have achieved many successes and books with their illustrations are often published by publishers while they are still students. Among the most recent successes is Karolína Bílková's 2020 book Ludwig van Beethoven, which was nominated for the National Student Design Award. The exhibition is therefore also a broader presentation of the work of the students of this studio.

This year the museum marks several anniversaries, the most important of which is the 150th anniversary of its foundation. Equally important is the anniversary of the museum building, which just this year "turns" 125 years old. One of the ways in which we commemorate important dates in history is the publication of an illustrated art book, but this is intended for a wider audience, including older children.
