Freedom, romance, friendship - 90 years of tramping in the Jizera Mountains

| North Bohemian Museum Liberec

From this subculture he tries to capture all the basic attributes of the tramp "philosophy", principles, style, culture, rituals, etc., The exhibition of photographs and texts will be complemented by period artefacts such as tramp clothing and tools, chronicles, flags, totems, guitars... The tramp movement began to take shape in the Liberec region in 1928, mainly thanks to the common singing of tramp songs and trips and stays of young people from Horní Růžodol to the surrounding countryside. In 1932, the first tramp settlements were established near the Jizera River (Sněhov, Splzov) and then in 1934, the newly founded T. O. Severní Ryves built the first tramp hut in the Jizera Mountains. A year later, the Liberec settlements merged into S.T.O. Rykatado, whose activity was interrupted by the Second World War.

The exhibition will focus on the phenomenon of tramping, a specifically Czech (Czechoslovak) form of outdoor recreation based on scouting, woodcraft, the Wild West, the life of Canadian trappers, hunters and North American Indians.
