NATIVITY EXHIBITION - Denisa Smetanová 24 February - 30 March 2024 Paintings reflecting the artist's journey through Southwest Africa. Denisa Smetanová is a painter, designer and university teacher living and working in Liberec. In her painting she is interested in the paradox connected with her own perception and experience of the surrounding world, she studies shadows and light reflexes metaphorizing reality and often experiments with the colour spectrum. The series of paintings at Galerie Johann was created five months after returning from a recent inspirational trip leading from Cape Town, South Africa to Etosha National Park. The exhibition's concept and subject matter presents an inspiring relationship between native exoticism and Western modern culture.
