Romantic Music Salon

| Miejski Dom Kultury,...

The music we know today as classical had the status of folk music in the 19th century. Popular opera arias and duets as well as excerpts from symphonies were performed in an intimate atmosphere in private homes. Some of the instrumental pieces were even written with the idea that they should be performed primarily on such occasions. The intimate atmosphere of salon concerts meant that the contact between the musicians and the audience was very different to performances in large halls. Fryderyk Chopin appreciated this atmosphere very much, and he much preferred playing at such events.
At the October concert, members of the amateur ensemble Lower Silesian Music Salons will perform alongside professionals: Anna Kopytko (mezzo-soprano) and Jerzy Owczarz (piano). The following soloists will make an appearance: lawyer Franciszek Gwizdowski (baritone) and student of the University of Economics Radosław Szostak (tenor). You will also hear a legal and medical choral ensemble consisting of: Katarzyna Bakalarczyk (soprano), Karolina Rzeźnicka (alto), Ewa Jan (alto), Wojciech Wodniak (tenor), Piotr Kliber (tenor) and Jarosław Janas (baritone). The program includes virtuoso works by Chopin as well as arias and duets from operas by Mozart, Bizet and Moniuszko.
