The exhibition Lines! presents the work of artists who perceive the line in many ways. Some work with it in its essential sense - as a movement expression of reality. They let the line run across the paper, with the dynamic power to render in one stroke an abstracted world without further exaggeration, without colour, perspective or shading. Others dive beneath the surface or scratch the surface, honestly rewriting and reprinting semi-random structures from which the inner order of things gradually emerges. But if artists are not concerned with the energetic movement of a running line or with finding order in the seemingly chaotic structures of the world, what else can they explore through the line? If their lines become shorter, if instead of long solid lines, the lines begin to layer, complement, cross, pile up and weave together, what is the intention of their creators? We'll talk about this and more on a guided tour of the exhibition. Even in contemporary art, the line has its irreplaceable place and the possibilities of working with the line will be discussed by the guest of the exhibition, sculptor and visual artist Pavel Korbička, who will present his work.
