The realization of the now famous building was preceded by an architectural competition of prominent contemporary architects. In the final round, ten architects came together and each presented their model of the new hotel and transmitter to the jury. This exhibition reflects the entire competition, together with the critical responses of the public and experts to Hubáček's selected project. It will show the contemporary discussion and view of the architectural brief, the ambiguity of the result, the peripeteia around the construction and the contemporary background to the whole project. At the core of the exhibition will be ten newly realised models from the hands of experienced modellers, which will show visitors the diversity of approaches to architecture at the time. The models will be accompanied by rare period photographs that the public has not had the opportunity to see before.


The building of the century, declared in a national poll, has already earned one exhibition in the past, but the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Ještěd Mountain Hotel by architect Karel Hubáček is a challenge to take up this important architecture in a new way.
