The piano orientation of this year's festival blossoms with the first performance of the artistic guarantor Jitka Čechová at the solemn St. Wenceslas concert. This outstanding Czech pianist has received a number of awards for her interpretative skills both at home and abroad. The main focus of her repertoire is on works by Czech authors. Her inaugural concert, however, will be more colorful. In fact, it will offer three forms of the piano as a solo instrument, in a piano trio and in a duo with violin or trumpet. The charming work by Beethoven's contemporary Voříšek is heard in the company of an early piece of music by the romanticist Mendelssohn- Bartholdy and a witty early opus by the modernist Dmitri Shostakovich. In addition, Jitka Čechová invited for this evening her piano ensemble, the "Smetana Trio", which was founded in 1934 by the legendary Czech pianist Josef Páleníček and is one of the best Czech ensembles of today. Čechová regularly collected the highest international honors with it in recent years.
