In 1823, the first Czech-language performance of the Benátky amateur theatre took place in Venice. The theatre performances took place in the private house of the merchant Karel Svačina on Hus Square in the 19th century. Initially, they were attended by a closed circle of spectators, but later they were also performed for the general public. At its peak, the Benátec theatre group became famous throughout Bohemia. This year, we will commemorate the history and present of this association in the Museum of Benecko.
