The informal artistic association was founded in 1972 on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the promotion of Hustopece to a town. In 2007 the association got its current name. It was inspired by the world-famous painter Alfons Mucha, who at the end of the 19th century co-organised cultural life in Hustopeče and was the first to organise exhibitions of his paintings there.The ranks of the ALFONS art group include professional artists and experienced autodidacts who have been presenting themselves together at exhibitions for more than 30 years, not only in the Czech Republic. They are artists using painting, graphic, textile, sculptural and ceramic techniques, who also invite young guests with new creative approaches to their presentations.The ALFONS art group has a significant contribution to the development of cultural life in Hustopeče;
