Join us as we delve into their musical journey, guided by the beats of Schönfisch.«
When I first heard this music, an instant scene painted itself in my mind – an early morning bathed in the first rays of sun atop a hill, facing south toward a lake embraced by imposing mountains. Of course, a cup of coffee in hand completed the picture.
With photographer Mario Israel, I ventured to the rehearsal space of Falk Schönfelder and Christian Fischer. Their common thread is their love for music. They are musicians at heart. Christian's roots lie in Berlin's club scene before love led him to Lückendorf. His portfolio spans jazz, gypsy punk, orchestral compositions, and electronic tunes. A dedicated musician and composer, he serves theaters and crafts film scores. Falk's musical journey follows a similar trajectory, cultivated with classical training. He composes film scores and contributes to theater – many recognize him as the pianist of the Postmodern Orchestra.
Together, they form Schönfisch (Beautiful Fish) – a creative fusion, the best of two worlds. They perform some of their pieces – a glimpse, a quick glance. Yet, there are moments when a handful of sounds and rhythms suffice to reveal your desire for more of this music. A rich palette of sounds. Enchanting, pulsating rhythms. What we hear instantly conjures an atmosphere of comfort. Harmonic melodies follow, while techno beats create a pleasing contrast. Acoustic instruments like double bass, piano, and guitar converge with electronic sounds. And it all floats with lightness and a positive vibe.
