Květa Legátová (1919-2012) shone on the literary scene like a flare from the ridges of the border mountains. When she published her mature first novel in 2001, she was over eighty. She continues the unique tradition of the village novel and drama, which gave birth to the most outstanding fruits of Czech literature, to which Želary rightly belongs. The complete cycle of short stories, together with the novel by Jozov Hanul, weaves the hard fate of the people from the Wallachian hills into a rare poetic story where the naked truth of human existence is in harmony with the mountain climate. The experienced author and director Jakub Nvota, who is well known to the Liberec ensemble from the productions of Mikve and King Lear, will create a tailor-made dramatisation for the actors.
