You are cordially invited to the XXV. Spectaculum Citaviae on Wednesday,
May 28, 2025, under the theme "Knightly Zittau."
It was the year 1255 when the Bohemian King Ottokar II, with his legendary circumambulation—majestically mounted on his noble steed—determined the greatness of Zittau 770 years ago, granting it city charter and privileges. And not only that! The Knights of St. John—a religious order of knights that settled in our beautiful city as early as 1275—have existed in Zittau for an incredible 750 years.
We're taking this as an opportunity to host a hearty feast.
Come, you noble knights, fair maidens, poetic minstrels, illustrious damsels, and traders who have traveled from far and wide. There is reason to celebrate.
The 25th Spectaculum Citaviae traditionally takes place on the Wednesday before Ascension Day. Musicians, choirs, theater, and dance groups will present various performances on several stages and in the churches. Guests can stroll through the historic streets and squares until late into the night.
