AFRICAN DRUMMING WORKSHOP

Music workshop with Tomas Kern, music producer, percussionist, composer and rhythmic guide. TOMÁŠ KERLE: He studied percussion from 1995-2000 with Tomáš Novák (a student of Professor Miloš Veselý), later he started to play djembe and doundouna (African bass drums). He learned traditional African rhythms under the tutelage of both West African masters (Drissa Kone, Thomas Guei, Koungbana Condé) and European percussionists (Louis Cesar Ewande, Janos Crecelius). He studied Arabic and Middle Eastern rhythms with Israeli percussionist Yshai Afterman. Over the years, he has undergone many music and music therapy workshops (Summer Jazz School at KJJ, Taketina system, Waldorf music therapy, bodypercussion workshops, etc.) Along with this, he has completed intensive musical internships of several months in West Africa and Indonesia. Throughout his musical career he has worked in many diverse Czech and international bands and projects (Marimba Mama, Ghana Dance Ensemble, All Star Refugee Band, Barati Squad, Soundokan, Topos Kolektiv, Adela Slash etc.) He has also been composing music for dance performances and various performances. Since 2008 he has been organizing drumming seminars and rhythm workshops "The Way of Rhythm" for the public, educational institutions and companies.
