Vladimír Merta (* 20 January 1946 Prague) is a Czech singer-songwriter, folk musician, publicist, writer, photographer, architect and film director. He is also the author of film music for several films. He sings and plays the guitar, or other musical instruments such as the mouth organ or flute.In the late 1960s he recorded the songbook album Ballades de Prague in France. He was a member of the folk association Saffron. During the 1980s he wrote and directed animated films. His songs are not played publicly because of their complexity and intricacy and interpretive distinctiveness. However, for several generations of folk audiences he is an unrivalled and inimitable folk guru. He will be performing a solo concert at Kittel House.
