Vernissage "Anmut und Liebreiz. Der Bildhauer Walter Sintenis und seine Frauenbilder"

| Städtische Museen Zittau

Städtische Museen Zittau

A cabinet exhibition together with the Zittau History and Museum Association:

Born in Zittau in 1867 as the son of a textile manufacturer, Walter Sintenis, after learning a commercial profession in Berlin, found his way to art in Dresden, where he received support from Karl Woermann, the then director of the Saxon Picture Gallery. In addition to various sculptural legacies in public spaces, we have impressive portraits of him, but above all magical and dynamic images of women. In the Zittau crematorium cemetery, his traces can be found in the portrait relief on the grave of the gallery owner, bookseller and publisher Arthur Graun.
