Stefan Zweig: "The World of Yesterday - Memoirs of a European".

| Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater...

Lausitz Festival

In his last autobiographical work, written shortly before his suicide, Stefan Zweig describes the culture before, between and during the two world wars.

In a world that seems to have successively lost all compasses, Zweig explores the question of the relevance and effectiveness of values that have grown up in the European context. He illuminates the role of art, which can not only comfort the individual, but also carries the hope of a new reality.

Not only will his work be read and recited, but director Yaron David Müller-Zach will also artistically stage individual sequences in a kaleidoscopic manner. Enriched with poetry excerpts from colleagues such as Karl Kraus, Jura Soyfer and Emile Verhaeren, pieces of music from classical modernism by Richard Strauss, Arnold Schönberg and Viktor Ullmann, among others, as well as some contemporary fragments, the evening will embark in a sensual-narrative arc on the search for sunlight brightness in a dark world, which is still relevant today, because - as Zweig recognizes - "every shadow is ultimately also a child of light."

Contributors: Yaron David Müller-Zach (director), Marius Zernatto (actor), Volker Hanisch (speaker), Talia Or (soprano), Doriana Tchakarova (piano).

This event will take place in German language.
