Jochen Klepper lived as Christian author, journalist and poet with his Jewish wife Johanna and his - also Jewish - stepdaughter Renate, during the time of Naional Socialism in Germany. His works offer an important perspective up to today in the German literary landscape. Late in 1942 the departure of his wife and stepdaughter, to leave the former German Reich, failed, and the deportation of the females in his family was imminent. When Adolf Eichmann presented him with the Goebbel's Alternative, career or marriage, Jochen Klepper made a shocking decision. A decsion made by him and thousands of Germans in mixed marriages. So silently that even today only very few have heard of it.
