Städtische Museen Zittau

On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the construction of Kühn's crypt (1723) and the 350th birthday of its builder, Johann Carl Kühn, the Zittau Municipal Museums invite you to a tour with Hermann Kühn, a descendant of Johann Carl Kühn, and Museum Director Dr Peter Knüvener.

The tour starts at Kühn's tomb in the monastery courtyard of the Franziskanerkloster Cultural History Museum (Klosterstraße 3, 02763 Zittau) with an art-historical outline by Dr Peter Knüvener. Afterwards, Hermann Kühn will lead a five-stop circular walk through Zittau's city centre to houses that shaped the life of Johann Carl Kühn along with their inhabitants. The tour shows his life from the originally trained black and whitewash dyer to a canvas dealer. Despite all the obstacles, Johann Carl Kühn, who was not trained as a merchant, was finally accepted into the Zittau Merchants' Association.

The participation fee is 6€, reduced 4€ (children and young people up to and including 16 years 1€). Registration is not necessary.
