The Holocaust Education Trust Ireland's Krokus project raises awareness of the Holocaust among young people and draws attention to the dangers of racism, discrimination and bigotry. The yellow colour of the flowers refers to the Star of David as a compulsory designation for Jews during World War II. We consider one of the saddest stages in the long history of our castle to be the period when it was used to intern Jews from the surrounding area. From there they went to Terezín and on to the extermination camps. Every year we plant yellow crocuses in the courtyard in memory of all the children who involuntarily inhabited our castle at that time and who died because of their origins;
