Tour of the small hydroelectric power plant Železný Brod

| Malá vodní elektrárna...

The plant is equipped with three direct-flow Kaplan turbines - one with an output of 496 kW and two with an output of 245 kW. The turbines handle water flow rates ranging from 1.2 m³/s to 24.4 m³/s and drive synchronous generators via bevel gears and flexible couplings. Operation is controlled by automatic level control.
The Železný Brod hydroelectric power station is located on the outskirts of the town of Železný Brod, next to the road from Malé Skála. Originally, there was an old dam and the remains of the power plant, which was closed in the 1960s. The new hydroelectric power plant, awarded the title of Building of the Year 2010, is sensitively set in the environment of historic factory buildings and the surrounding natural scenery of the slopes along the Jizera River.
You can visit Železný Brod as part of the Water Day on Saturday 22 March 2025 from 10 am to 12 pm.

On the occasion of the World Water Day, there will also be an opportunity to visit the hydroelectric power station in Železný Brod.
