Two women, two pregnancies, two lives. Janis and Ana are both expecting their first child and happen to meet in the hospital shortly before the births. Both women are single and both pregnancies were unwanted or unexpected. Janis, middle-aged, regrets nothing and is exuberantly happy in the hours before the birth. Ana is the exact opposite - a teenager, scared and traumatised, and finds her mother Teresa to be almost no support at all. Janis, however, tries to encourage Ana. The few words that they exchange in these hours in the hospital are enough to create a tight bond between the two. But a fluke suddenly turns everything topsy-turvy and changes their lives dramatically.
