Florian Zeller Eighty-year-old André lives with his daughter Anne and her husband. He used to be a dancer. Or an engineer? Why is he wearing pajamas in the middle of the afternoon? What happened to his watch? And his daughter Anne? And what's that stranger with the chicken doing in his kitchen? A touchingly funny and tenderly cruel comedy with a French sense of intimacy, it captures a pressing issue of the day: ageing and the responsibility of children for helpless parents. The hero of the play struggles with his memory for his own life, his family and himself. Who am I when I lose myself? Florian Zeller (*1979) is a widely acclaimed star of contemporary Parisian theatre, and his plays are acclaimed and performed all over the world. They offer significant acting challenges, the kind that win awards. In 2020, the DFXŠ drama company staged the Czech premiere of Zeller's hot new play, Son, unfortunately just days before the start of the covid pandemic. An earlier comedy, Father, from the same family trilogy, reaped a string of prestigious awards in Paris, but became a big hit in the UK and on Broadway, only to finally be made into a film in 2020 starring Anthony Hopkins, who won an Oscar for the title role, as did Zeller himself, who won an award for the screenplay.
