Mark Steiner is a well-known figure in the Norwegian music scene. He has been around for so long that many Norwegians believe he is Norwegian himself. But that's not the case. This ex-New Yorker is a singer-songwriter you'll probably find somewhere in a back corner pub in Oslo, as well as in Paris, Berlin, Lisbon, New York or even Melbourne. He is a musical vagabond who draws inspiration from the same sources as Stuart Staples, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen or Rowland S. Howard. Sometimes he performs alone, sometimes in a chamber formation and sometimes with his band under the name Mark Steiner & His Problems.
He has been collaborating with violinist Pavel Cingle, who has contributed to several of Steiner's albums and is a member of His Problems, since 2009. The two have played many concerts together in various line-ups throughout Europe, as well as in Iceland and the USA.
They are currently performing with the talented Norwegian singer Ingunn
Holmen, with whom they have recorded the pilot singles Twin Flames and Black Hole.
