“The fairy tale, like most of Janáček's chamber compositions, is a fascinating insight into the composer's soul. Tormenting, but still tender, sad, but different, simply melancholic, wistful, but without whining and false tears... That is the music of Leoš Janáček.” Georg Bárta
The pianist Terezie Fialová and the cellist Jiří Bárta have been on a common artistic and life path for several years. In addition to working in the Eben Trio, the two are also self-sufficient, as they demonstrated in 2021, for example, with the recording of the complete Beethoven sonatas for cello and piano. From this highly esteemed committee, the concert will quote the fifth sonata, which is an excellent example of Beethoven's pioneering work.
From this highly regarded selection, the Fifth Sonata will be heard in the concert, an outstanding example of Beethoven's pioneering work.
In addition, the program of the Zittau concert is mainly dedicated to Leoš Janáček, who actually rarely composed for these two instruments. His only piece for cello and piano is the gentle and tender Fairy Tale. Another sonata by Janáček for violoncello was not available, so Jiří Bárta had to adapt it from the violin part. The concert concludes with Bohuslav Martinů's lively Rossini Variation, which also contains little Paganini jokes.
"As a child, I spent summers in a cottage in the Sluknov foothills and I still go there today. I love the landscape and the people here, and at the same time I often ask myself unanswerable questions about the expulsion of the original population. Maybe that is also the reason for today's German-Czech program, the program of reconciliation, the program of mutual forgiveness." Jiří Bárta
