Curator of the exhibition Milan Maršálek, Czech World z.s.: The Discovered Work of Ladislav Pomíjel. Ladislav Lazar Pomíjel was born on 24 April 1901 in Hluboká nad Vltavou. He spent his youth in České Budějovice. He worked as an Old Catholic preacher and religious teacher in North Bohemia. He died on 7 September 1945 in Prague. L. Pomíjel studied painting and became a member of the newly founded Old Catholic Church. He exhibited in Topič's salon and decorated several restaurants in Prague. His painted diary for the church, of which he was a teacher, is a remarkable work. Graphically, he produced the monumental two-volume patriotic work "The Historical Calendar of the Czech Nation", compiled by Martin Vochoč in memory of the writings of Daniel Adam of Veleslavín in 1940. The book "The House", about the place in České Budějovice where Pomíjel lived for a time, is considered to be the life legacy of the painter, publicist, graphic artist and teacher. In memory of future generations and a history that has already forgotten Ladislav, a memorial plaque with his name was also placed on the house in 2017. The discovery of his four lunettes is a historical unique. The lunettes, created between 1936 and 1938, measure approximately 280 cm x 180 cm and are oil paintings on canvas. They depict the four seasons and bear witness to the life of the Czech patriotic donor. We look forward to your visit and discovering this exceptional artist and his work!
