All aboard! The "KunstBUS" project was first realized in 2014 by the art initiative "Im Friese" e.V. and many other supporters from business, society and politics. Since then the project has been very successful.

From the year 2022, the Foundation for Art and Culture in Upper Lusatia took over responsibility for the project.

The art locations each present themselves in their own way and with their own thematic focus.

The focus is on contemporary art from the region and the artists who live here. They present themselves and their works at very different art and cultural venues in Upper Lusatia. The diversity of the art and culture scene in Upper Lusatia has already been demonstrated in recent years. Again and again new art locations and actors from the cultural area of Upper Lusatia/Lower Silesia could be inspired for the project.

The common goal is to illustrate the potential of the region in terms of artistic creation. The focus is on networking the most diverse art locations in the Upper Lusatia-Lower Silesia region. Art and cultural associations, museums, theatres, independent artists and art initiatives - the networking with each other and the joint design of the program for the KunstBUS weekend characterizes the innovative character of the project.

Anyone interested has the opportunity to travel to different art locations in the Upper Lusatia region and to experience a diverse cultural program in the buses as well as at the different locations.

Art can be experienced by everyone - in the broadest sense of the word.
