The epoch which we have come to call the Middle Ages takes up about 1,000 years in our conception. However, this period of our history is often perceived as static and with minimal development. The opposite is true. In certain periods it was a very dynamic time. This lecture will be devoted to outlining the development of a part of medieval society that gradually resulted in the formation of the class we call the nobility.
