The Jizerka choir was founded in the school year 1964/65 at the elementary school in Semily - Podmoklice. The choir was led for many years by Alena and Václav Brádl. Together they built a large "Jizerka family" of several departments from the original school ensemble, which managed to gain recognition in the Czech Republic and abroad. Jizerka now operates at the ZUŠ Semily, where it has several departments with around 120 singers of different ages. The choir focuses on classical and contemporary vocal music, folk song arrangements and sacred music. Jizerka participates in many cultural events or projects in which it cooperates with other musical ensembles. The choir has been successful in various competitions and festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad, from where it has won high placements. For the above mentioned results Jizerka was awarded the Prize of the town of Semily in 2016. The choirmaster of Jizerka since 2008 is Nadia Ladkany, the choir's accompanist is Jiří Horčička. The Jizeran singing group was founded in 1860. In 1969 it broke up and was restored in 1989. Since then it has staged 13 masses, 4 cantatas, Te Deum A. Dvořák, compositions by Michna, several pastorelas and carol cycles, and a number of songs. He has performed with many choirs, 11 orchestras and with vocal and instrumental soloists. Since 1989, he has delighted visitors at more than 500 concerts and performances in 80 towns and villages in the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Germany, Slovenia, Italy, Poland and Ukraine (the village of Kolochava). The longest serving choirmaster in its history, Jiří Kurfiřt, directs the choir (winner of the Semily Town Prize in 2009), and since 1989 Jaroslav Vávra (Semily Town Prize 2014), director of the Foerstrovy Osenice festival and chairman of the Union of Czech Choirs, has been the choir's chairman.
