The silhouette of a mountain towering on the Liberec horizon is the central motif of the exhibition, which includes works from the gallery's collections from the earliest 19th century prints, through oil paintings and drawings, to works from the 1980s. In collaboration with the Städtischen Museen Zittau, paintings by German artists with whom we share the horizon of this mountain will also be on display. The exhibition is loosely connected with the centenary of the birth of Karel Hubáček, founder of the SIAL architectural office and creator of the mountain hotel and transmitter on Ještěd. The Liberec Regional Gallery is cooperating on the exhibition with the Städtischen Museen Zittau and the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec.

Ještěd as a mountain visible on the horizon of the whole region has always been intimately connected with the identity of the local landscape. The volcanic origin together with the harsh mountain climate create an unforgettable combination that has encouraged artists associated with the region, but far from being only them, to create art.
