What bad luck! An angry fairy curses the royal couple's newly born child – simply because she wasn't invited to the party. She prophesies to the princess that on her 15th birthday she will prick herself on a spindle and drop dead. A colleague of the angry sorceress manages to convert the death penalty into a hundred-year sleep, but the curse is on the world. Destiny takes its course: And although the father immediately issues the order not only to confiscate all the spindles in the kingdom, but to burn them immediately, 15 years later his daughter actually pricks herself on a spindle. She's not the only one who falls asleep immediately. The world stops. All people fall asleep. The festive roast in the oven stops sizzling. Thorns overgrow the castle.

But would life really be better without evil fairies and pointed spindles? Strokes of fate have existed as long as there have been people. And perhaps they too have their purpose. Without the evil fairies and spindles, there would be no fairy tales, at any rate. Then we would not be able to bring one of the most beautiful ones to the stage today for you, for your children and grandchildren, your nieces and nephews, for young and old people, for the whole family.

Director Johannes Zametzer's version of the popular fairy tale about the girl Rosa, who immerses herself in the world of the Brothers Grimm while reading, tells the story of the awakening from a 100-year sleep close to the original. She comes across as bright and full of life, curiosity and imagination. His Sleeping Beauty courageously takes her young life into her own hands. And she certainly doesn't let herself be kissed awake just like that. What luck!
