Everything's upside down in the old natural history museum. A brand new exhibition is about to open, revealing to visitors the natural treasures of the distant island of Mauritius. The highlight of the exhibition is the fossilised egg of the long-extinct Dodo bird - the only specimen in the world! During the ceremony, a pair of children approach the egg unnoticed. They are tempted by the idea that the egg might hatch into something, and they are not at all worried that it is as hard as a piece of rock and as cold as ice. They open the display case, reach for the egg and start to imagine what a dodo might look like if it ever hatched. Suddenly, there's a scratching sound from inside the egg. The shell cracks. For ages 5 and up.
