The Wonder Pot

| F. X. Šalda Theatre, Liberec

The original version of the Broadway musical Finian's Rainbow captivated the Czech duo V+W so much - already after their return from emigration together - that they immediately afterwards transferred it to the Czech stage, with a transfer to Czech realities. The central character was the waterman Čochtan, whom Jan Werich built directly "on his body", and Jiří Voskovec directed the play. The Divotvorny Pot was also their last play together and featured several prominent artists, such as Ljuba Hermanová and Soňa Červená. With its kindness and gentle humour, The Divotvorny Pot V+W reminds us not only of the age-old wish for the victory of good over evil, but above all it underlines the urgent feeling that we have only one home. And how can a person have one when he has it all the way over there, "over the rainbow".

A fairy-tale musical not only about the search for true happiness.
