Lojza and Lisa, the main characters of the fairy tale, live on their South Bohemian ranch. Lojza, like a retired tramp, only puts his guitar away when he is sleeping or hungry. Liza runs out of patience when the house is all eaten out and the roof rains straight into the bed. She chases Lojza away to fix the roof and goes into the forest herself, where instead of mushrooms and strawberries she finds a strange little donkey that turns out to be a real fairy-tale grandmother.
