KAREL HUBÁČEK THE KNOWN UNKNOWN 27 September - 3 October | 10:00-19:00 | small hall of the North Bohemian Museum, Liberec The exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of architect Karel Hubáček offers a unique opportunity to look at his work and personality, which, among other things, was behind the design of the Jested transmitter. It presents Hubáček's main realisations as well as previously unknown designs and projects, including early works from the 1950s and neglected buildings such as the cinema in Doksy.
KARL HUBÁČEK'S HOUSE Sat Sep 28 | 10:00-16:00 | Alšova 454/10, 460 15 Liberec-Starý Harcov Guided tour of the house where architect Karel Hubáček lived and worked with the director of the North Bohemian Museum Jiří Křížek. The tour starts at every hour, the last one will take place at 15:00. The interpretation will take place in the gardens of the building and visitors will then be able to tour the house on their own.
Explore the heart of the TUL campus Sat Sep 28 | 10:00 | Studentská 2, IC building, Liberec The guided tour will present the history of the TUL buildings with a focus on significant architectural details and urban context. The tour includes a visit to the studio, named after the prominent architect Karel Hubáček, which forms the heart of the campus.
SMALL THEATRE Sat Sep 28 - 15:00 | Sun Sep 29 - 10:00 | Small Theatre, 344 Zhořelecká Street, Liberec A visit to the interiors including the operating facilities with theatre technician and prop maker Michal Maršík. The tour is scheduled for 1 hour and will offer a comprehensive view of the architecture and operation of the theatre. Limited capacity of 20 people/tour, booking via GoOut.
POETICS OF THE TOWER Sun 29 Sep, Mon 30 Sep | 14:00 | Zauhlovačka, Rumburská, Vratislavice nad Nisou, Liberec The premises of the former water and coal tower by architect Leopold Bauer and its poetic interpretation in various forms with architect Michaela Říha and guests. A varied cultural programme for the whole family, with activities such as creative workshops for children, music listening, spoken word and screenings inspired by the work of Franz Kafka, building the fantastical atmosphere of a beacon of industry.
CONVERSION OF THE SPA Sun 29 Sep | 16:30 | Regional Gallery Liberec, Masarykova 723/14, 460 01 Liberec Conversion of a Neo-Renaissance spa building into a gallery space with the project's author, architect Jiří Buček. The conversion was carried out in 2014 according to the design of the architectural studio SIAL under the direction of Jiří Buček. The actual essence of the new layout is based on the blending and contrast of the old and the new;
FILM AND ARCHITECTURE Sun 29 Sep | 17:00 | Zauhlovačka, Rumburská, Vratislavice nad Nisou, Liberec Lecture on Czech architecture of the 1970s and screening of the film Architecture of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic 58-89 with art history student Kateřina Ptáková and architect Michaela Říhová. At 17:00 there will be tours of the water tower, at 18:00 there will be a lecture OD Ještěd: architecture of the second half of the 20th century with Kateřina Ptáková and at 19:00 there will be a screening of the film Architecture of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic 58-89.
VISIONARIES Tue 1 Oct | 18:00 | Faculty of Art and Architecture of TUL, auditorium G312, block 6, 3rd floor, Univerzitní náměstí 1 Architect Alena Mičeková and architects Saman Saffarian, Daniel Sviták, Petr Štefek and representatives of Mjölk will present research works and projects of the Informed Architecture studio at the Faculty of Architecture of TUL, specializing in climate sustainable architecture;
JEŠTĚD: THE RESTORATION OF AN ARCHITECTONIC ICON Wed Oct 2 | 17:00 | Ještěd transmitter and hotel A lecture by architects Jiří and Michal Krejčík on the upcoming reconstruction of the iconic Ještěd transmitter and mountain hotel. The architects will present the key themes of the restoration project and the details that will help to return this building to its original splendour and functionality. Karel Hubáček's Lighthouse Thu Oct 3 | 18:00 | North Bohemian Museum, Masarykova 11, Liberec (AV hall) Guided tour of the exhibition Karel Hubáček Known Unknown, screening of a short film entitled Karel Hubáček's Lighthouse and moderated discussion with guests.
