This time, audiences throughout the Czech Republic and Slovakia can see one of the most successful and most appreciated productions in the contemporary repertoire of the theatre, Petr Zelenka's play Elegance of a Molecule. Martin Myšička plays the title role in the story of the brilliant scientist Antonín Hole, who revolutionised the treatment of HIV and hepatitis. Other roles will be played by Ivan Trojan, Veronika Khek Kubařová, Zdeňka Žádníková, Pavel Šimčík, Petr Vršek, Vladimír Polívka, Václav Jiráček, Elizaveta Maximová and Lada Jelínková. 380 CZK Elegance of a molecule It is often only a few hundred metres from the chemical laboratory to the pharmacy on the nearest corner. But a drug molecule on that journey goes through a process costing hundreds of millions of dollars, often involving thousands of people. So the molecule that gets lucky and reaches its destination. The play ELEGANCE OF A MOLECULE follows three such substances and their three "fathers", one of whom was the brilliant Czech chemist, Professor Antonín Holý. It explores the origins and the very dramatic industrial development of substances from Czech chemical laboratories that today cure AIDS in more than eighty percent of patients worldwide. Otto Wichterle had his famous story about how he built a machine to spin the first contact lenses on a Merkur kit. Peter Zelenka's play looks for such a "Merkur" in the life of chemist Antonín Holý. A story of strong vision, foresight, luck and a reward that came too late.

Theatre in the cinema. Following the phenomenal success of last year's The Stuck System in cinemas, which became the most attended live theatre performance in the country to date, Dejvické Theatre will invade with another popular title.
