Miss Novak (Mia Wasikowska) comes to a prestigious boarding school to show the students the latest food trends. She teaches them how to eat mindfully - less and better. The new "sustainable" lifestyle is to free them from everything they have believed in so far. A strong bond soon develops between Miss Novak and the group of students. Before the other teachers and busy parents realize what is happening, the situation spirals out of control...
Why this film. From the often hypocritical attitude towards environmental issues, the uncritical acceptance of diet trends, to what can happen when busy parents overlook the needs of their children. Austrian director Jessica Hausner's treatment is distinctive both visually and sonically, but also has a unique humorous perspective that will probably come as a pleasant surprise to many on these subjects. This symbiosis is complemented by the excellent performances of Mia Wasikowska and Sidse Babett Knudsen, who you can also look forward to seeing in SONS, which we will be releasing with Aerofilms this autumn."
