Choral music from five centuries with the Opera Choir of the GHT | Choir Director: Albert Seidl

In the city space

Even the elaborately and variously designed gates, towers and facades of the old town of Görlitz tell of it: already many hundreds of years ago there was hustle and bustle here, and in the same scenery, which is still able to improve our attitude to life today, people long before us went about their day's work, made plans for the future or celebrated life and love. As hardly anywhere else, one can feel the pulse of past times in this ambience, and what could be more natural than to fill the old walls, which still offer us room to live today, with equally timelessly enriching music. But not only "Neue teutsche Gesang" (New German Song) such as by Hans Leo Hassler or works by the great Heinrich Schütz will be heard, but also treasures of the English and French madrigal art as well as - like a journey through the centuries - music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, Anton Bruckner, Johannes Brahms and Claude Debussy up to songs from all over the world and popular choral pieces of the present.
