Blues Caravan 2023

| Na Rampě Club

The third stop of the "blues caravan" at Klub Na Rampě. Another opportunity to see new talents of the blues scene in Jablonec nad Nisou. Three guitars, three voices. That's the 18th edition of Ruf\'s Blues Caravan, which kicked off in mid-February 2023. It continues a tradition that was established in 2005 when Thomas Ruf, founder of the internationally operating German record label Ruf Records, came up with the idea for this kind of tour and sent his three artists (Sue Foley, Candye Kane and Ana Popovic) on tour together for the first time. This time the line-up consists of Texas blues-rocker Ally Venable, Chicago-born, Berlin-based Will Jacobs and Ashleigh Sherlock from Manchester, UK. Ally Venable was just 19 years old when "Texas Honey", her debut album for Ruf Records, went on sale in 2019 and she played her first Blues Caravan tour with her then label mates Ina Forsman and Katarina Pejak. Her second studio album for Ruf Records, Heart Of Fire, followed in 2021 and album number three, Real Gone, was released this year. In addition, she plays as a special guest on Mike Zito's next Ruf Records album "Rock 'n' Roll: A Tribute To Chuck Berry". She says of herself, "When I play live, I want to connect with people and get them out of their problems." Will Jacobs hails from an American metropolis whose name is associated with the blues like no other: Chicago. It was there in the 1950s that people like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Willie Dixon electrified country blues from the Deep South, where they had migrated from. And Will, too, left his own musical imprint in the blues clubs of his hometown before eventually moving to the German capital of Berlin, where he still lives today. Although his debut album Ruf "Goldfish Blues" is audibly grounded in the genre of the same name, Jacobs spices up his song material with whatever catches his fancy. Of his album, he says, "My music would be a kind of funky blues experience." Ashley Sherlock is a Manchester-based singer and guitarist whose musical career began with solo performances. When asked about his main influences, he named Jeff Buckley, The Marcus King Band, The Cadillac Three, Gary Clark Jr. and Chris Stapleton. After plenty of solo gigs, he decided to form a blues-rock power trio in 2017, with which he has so far recorded two self-released EPs and a couple of singles. His debut album for Ruf Records, "Just a Name," was released in April 2023. Of Blues Caravan, he says, "This tour is something I've wanted to be a part of for a while. I can't wait to hit the road and play my music for people!" BC website http://wordpress.bluescaravan.de/blues-caravan-e/
