One of the most controversial, relevant and simply most interesting "underground" bands from the "East" on reunion tour.

Sandow is to Cottbus what Marzahn is to Berlin, Grünau to Leipzig and Neustadt to Halle. Named after the Plattenbau district in the east of the city, Sandow is perhaps the best-known and most innovative indie-underground avant-garde band of the GDR. Founded in 1982, they shaped the time of reunification with their alternative and experimental music.

Hits like "Schweigen und Parolen" (Silence and Slogans) and "Born in the GDR" made them just as famous as the legendary live shows and the excessive mass performances "Ngoma" with several hundred drummers. Sandow also became known through the documentary film "flüstern und SCHREIEN" (Whispering and Screaming), released in 1988, which shows insights into the underground music scene of the GDR.

To celebrate the band's 40th anniversary, the Cottbus veterans released the best-of album "Kinder des Verbrechens - 40 Jahre | Best of 1982 - 2022" in the fall of 2022. 10 old songs have been completely re-recorded, with the support of very select guests.
