Cabinet of Wonders or Orbis pictus

| Naive Theatre, Liberec

Naivní divadlo...

Inspired by Jan Ámos Komenský's world-famous textbook Orbis Pictus, the production is actually a kind of "theatrical introduction" to the workings of planet Earth. It was prepared by the creative team of the Naive Theatre's tribal director, Michaela Homolová (in NDL, for example, About a Lamb that Fell from Heaven). The subtitle of the production could easily be "The Earth in a Cube", or more precisely - in a cabinet: following the example of ancient cabinets of curiosities, the actors pull out more or less familiar artefacts from the individual shelves of the mysterious cabinet and bring them to life using the oldest and most traditional puppetry tricks. Through these theatrical wonders and magic, they gradually introduce the child audience to the greatest wonders in life around us. For some it is nature, for others it is man himself, many are left standing in awe again of the discoveries and inventions that man has made in the course of his existence. But the greatest wonder is the planet Earth as a whole and its functioning in the universe. Aimed at children aged 5 and up.

The world in pictures not only according to Comenius.
